Salt dough tree decorations

A Kirstie Allsop creation after watching her xmassy craft programme.

One that anyone can make, young and old, salt dough is easy and cheap!

For all these tree decorations I used (in a measuring jug) 200ml flour, 100ml table salt and 100ml water. Add the water slowly and knead into a dough.

If its a bit flaky, add a little olive oil to keep moist. Once you’ve made your shapes, push a needle through for hanging and microwave on a plate (with greaseproof paper underneath) for about 3.5 minutes -let cool and microwave a little longer if still moist.

Then paint your heart out!

Winter mist

This is my bus stop where I go to work. Fortunately once in a blue moon I am treated to spectacular fog, or a gorgeous sun rise or the sun beaming through the tree branches.

This morning, bitterly cold, it was the fog, a hovering pillow above the cold ground, gentle, caressing, soft, its tendrils stroking the earth & the trees, before slowly warming and melting away under the heat of the sun.

The cost of Christmas

I’m writing this lying in bed a lotto uncomfortable, squirming a little as my butt accidentally touches the sheet – and no I haven’t got ants in my pants or anything more serious, I’ve got 6 holes in my butt. Biopsies to be accurate.

Legally, there’s not many jobs that will pay you £200 for 2 hours work, but a little bit of medical research will. And i reckon that will just about cover the festive period.

So there you have it, I sold my body for money – it might just be 6 teeny tiny little bits of it, but it sure is uncomfortable at the moment. Maybe not morally, but physically atleast!

Falafels :-)

Easy BBC recipe, with some feta thrown in. Can’t believe how easy falafels are…

preheat oven @ 200c. Blend together one tin chick peas, one red onion and 2 garlic cloves (or a dollop of my new friend garlic paste!), throw in some s+p, cumin, dried coriander, a handful of fresh chopped parsley and chili if you want to give them a good kick! Throw in some flour to dry it out a little, then mould into little balls, put in pan, dot with a little olive oil then bake til brown. Turn them over after the tops have browned. This will also stop them sticking too much to the pan!

Enjoy in a pitta with some tzatziki.
